What do roaches look like?

American cockroaches are the largest species of cockroach that enter into homes and structures in the Albany area; they can grow to be over 2 inches in length. They are a reddish-brown to mahogany in color with a distinctive yellow band behind their head. This species of cockroaches have fully developed wings and are able to fly.

Are cockroaches dangerous?

American cockroaches are dangerous; while they generally do not bite they have the ability to spread dangerous bacteria throughout your home that can cause vomiting, fever, and diarrhea. The feces and shed skins that they leave behind can also trigger asthma attacks in some folks and especially in children.

Why do I have an American cockroach problem?

American cockroaches generally live outdoors underneath logs, mulch and flower beds, they will make their way indoors in order to search for food and water.
