Bed bug prevention tips

Due to their superior hitchhiking and breeding abilities, bed bugs are not an easy pest to prevent. However, you should:

  • Know the signs of bed bugs which are live bed bugs and/or eggs, blood stains on bed linens, very small black marks (fecal matter about the size of pepper) on or near the sleeping area and of course bed bug bites.

  • Learn how to avoid bed bug infestations.

  • Inspect used furniture, clothing and other items before bringing them into your home.

  • Unpack your suitcase outside or in the garage upon returning from a trip to prevent the spread of these pests if they are present. Clothes should be washed immediately in the hottest water permitted by fabric and luggage should be wiped before storing.
